Pastor Mike was born in Busan, South Korea and was raised with an alcoholic father and a mother who was a devout Buddhist. He grew up without any Christian influence in his life. After spending the first 7 years of his life in South Korea, his family moved to the United States and continued to move around before finally settling down in Emmett, Idaho.
He radically converted to Christ when he was 13 years old and was called to the ministry shortly thereafter. After his conversion to Christ, he led his brother and mom to the Lord.
Instead of following his call into ministry, he pursued a football scholarship. While at training camp, the Lord convicted him about his disobedience and after wrestling with the Lord, Mike left his scholarship and walked out on his football career and went to Northwest Christian College (now Northwest Christian University) in Eugene, Oregon to complete his undergraduate studies and then went on to Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA for his graduate studies.
Pastor Mike has been in full-time vocational ministry since 1980. He has been a youth pastor, planted 4 churches, help facilitate the planting of over 300 churches, is the senior developer for Praxis Center For Church Development, co-authored 4 books, written numerous articles and resource manuals, started several ministry institutes and is the President & Dean of Church and Ministry at The Trivium Institute of Leader Development.
Pastor Mike met the love of his life, Teresa, in January of 1982 at NCC and they were married in May of 1983. After 17 years of fruitful marriage and ministry God blessed Mike & Teresa with 2 beautiful and awesome daughters!
Pastor Mike’s passion is to bring God delight and others into His delight by helping them discover their God-given potential, developing pathways to live the abundant life that loves God with all they are, loves others with all that He is and reproduces this life in others.
