Starting in approximately 1975, Mel began leading worship in his home church as a worship leader. “Every church that I have attended, I have always been either on paid staff or lay person as a Worship Pastor. I have also served as a Youth Pastor, Minister of Music, and co-pastor along with being a coordinator of numerous ministries.”  Mel has been blessed to be able to help the churches he has served with vision casting, leadership decisions, music, teaching, growing in knowledge of the Lord and in church growth.

In the fall of 1996, Mel and his wife Denise started a Sunday morning Bible study, and out of this study The Living Room Community Church began. Mel and life-long friend, Monte Ingersoll, started the first church service on April 1, 1997 atPascoHigh School. The Living Room has grown from the original congregation size of approximately one hundred to more than seven hundred people who perhaps call The Living Room Community Church their home.

In December of 2011, a new calling came from Crossroads Christian Fellowship in Bigfork Montana. After much prayer and seeking the Lord, Mel and Denise felt the nudging of the Lord to work for Him in the capacity of Senior Pastor at CrossRoads. On February 1st  2012, he began work in that capacity, “I am extremely honored to serve the Lord alongside the wonderful people of CrossRoads Christian Fellowship.  I look forward to the incredible things He will do in our lives and through our lives in Bigfork and theFlatheadValley. Praise the Lord!!!!!”
