2024 THEME and VERSES

The theme for this year is “Perspectives on WORSHIP.

We ask each artist to choose one of the five passages of Scripture below that will serve as the foundation for your creativity. The passage should be a guide to you, but not necessarily dictate the product of your creativity. Each passage will be displayed with corresponding artwork at the Spring art event.

  • Deuteronomy 2:7

  • Psalm 30:9-12

  • Psalm 79:13

  • Psalm 98:7-8

  • Hebrews 12:28-29

What is “VISUAL WORSHIP?”

Worship is usually defined as “the act of showing reverence or the act of losing oneself in adoration for a deity by honoring that deity with religious rites.”  Perspectives on Visual Worship is a call to artists to pause, lay your blank canvas down at God’s feet, put your tools aside and brushes in your jar, hold your Bible in your hands, and have a good chat with the Lord.

When your knees are good and dirty, and your heart is full of something to share, then, may you raise your art tools in hand as praise to Him and create something aesthetically pleasing to the Lord, sweet visual worship.

Why not call it an “ART SHOW?”

There are plenty of art shows you can enter to showcase your talents and abilities, but nothing like this! It’s time for those of us in the Christian community to start thinking of artwork as a window into the Word of God and straight to the soul of fellow believers. This is a journey of the heart, to challenge your understanding, to stretch your comfort zones and allow the Holy Spirit to lead the way through the artistic process! Instead of concerning yourself with how to amaze an audience of critics, let God be the one amaze you!
