TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT

When Satan has climbed up on your back, the only reason is for an attack!

Good morning sir!

This is day 14!  I’m wondering if you’ve felt the spiritual battle increase over the last 14 days?  Join me in prayer:  “Lord, You endured every temptation but were without sin!   So You are the One I look to, to provide me with an avenue of escape!  Every time!  Thank You Lord!  Amen!

Today I came across a quote by Martin Luther.

“If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are attacking at that moment, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ! Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all battlefields besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point.” 

Isn’t it amazing that Luther’s world of the 16th century is exactly the same as our world today!  Do you remember the short reading on loyalty during that one solo time?  Luther says it again.

The point of attack is exactly where the battle must be fought.  And this point is different for each of us.  For one, it’s anger, for another it’s lust, for another it’s pride, greed, envy, sloth, or gluttony - any of those famous root sins.

The little point of attack is always our loyalty to Christ!  And this is why Pastor Paul, reminded us, many times, that the devil wants an advantage and the higher he gets on our back, the harder to ‘stand firm’ and ‘be strong’ in our faith.  

Oh, Lord, let ‘the Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead dwell in me!’  Romans 8:11 You are faithful!  You are my escape from every scheme of the evil one!  Amen!
